I used to pants my way through what I was writing; I had no direction. I just wrote whatever popped into my head. (I was 6 when I started writing, so I think there should be some lienency here, lol.) But, the more I wrote, the more I realized what I was doing wrong. I was getting bored with what I was writing because I had no plot. I then began to plan out my novels, and it's helped tremendously. And now, I have a new way of looking at the Disney movies I still love. (Though, I understand why people don't like them, and I am okay with that. In my short story class, I think about 30+ of the forty stories we read were not stories with a defined plot arc. They were more like vignettes.
