Reason becomes a defense of the status quo as it remains. When I have a negative emotional response to being woken up, it's really just me reasonably wanting more sleep. However, if I share my grumpiness in those initial few moments of being made to be awake, that emotional response is raw, an unfiltered essence of truth. It isn't until later that I can contemplate the cause or potential causes of my initial response, and in that time, I've only distanced myself from the very circumstances which made me an expert with which to be reckoned on the subject of me sleeping for longer than I was tolerated to sleep. Emotion is perhaps the basis of all reason, and the more emotional I am on a subject, the more I ought to be considered when taking arguments on that subject.<br /><br />On the subject of sleep: I love sleep, and cannot enough profess my love for it in general, or specifically my pillow and blanket and bed and dreaming. Thus, my emotional ties are strong, and I should be allowed to go back to sleep. Don't wake me up.
