Welcome

Best Modern Fantasy (Quarterfinal 3-Last chance to vote)

What is the best fantasy book or series written in the last 25 years?

Gotta keep going flipping these over so it doesn't take forever to get through this poll, so tomorrow I'm going to post the results of this poll and put up the last quarterfinal.

So you have one more day to vote.

Don't forget you get three (3) votes, but that there is no ranking, so using as few votes as possible is better.

The poll itself is in the lower left at the bottom of the side menus.

I'm told if you're on mobile you have to click "webpage view" then scroll alllllllllll the way to the bottom, you can find the poll.

  1. Why are you mixing single books (e.g. Pratchett, Novik) with entire series (Rowling, Briggs)? Nothing against either, but it seems a bit "Apples vs Oranges" to compare worlds created in a single book* to ones which can be expanded and developed over many...

    * Yes, I know the Pratchett one is part of a 40-odd volume set with the story taking place in an already richly-developed world, but there is apparently only one of those 40-odd under consideration here, with no mention of previously-established backgrounds...

  2. Wish I had happened upon this earlier in the process. Far and away the very best fantasy series in the last quarter century is the Sailing to Sarantium series by Guy Gavriel Kay. It is the only writing which brought this very masculine guy to tears - both of joy and sadness.

  3. Kusheil's Dart series, Jacqueline Carey.
