Welcome

My drug of choice is writing––writing, art, reading, inspiration, books, creativity, process, craft, blogging, grammar, linguistics, and did I mention writing?

Whipping Up Some Grounded Parents

Today my blogging ju-ju is going towards writing a long overdue post for Grounded Parents about polyamory and skepticism. If you want to see that post the instant it is done, be sure to follow me on one of the social media where I post everything I write (not just Writing About Writing posts).

In the meantime, I give you The Ideology of Skepticisma post I wrote for G.P. a few months ago about the dangers of treating issues within skepticism with ideological tools instead of a gritty self-questioning quest for truth.

Whipping Up Some Grounded Parents

I'm spending my blog writing time today working on an article for Grounded Parents. It will probably come out some time next week.

Remember if you want to get my Grounded Parent articles when they come out, you should follow me on one of the social media I've set up as Chris Brecheen the author (rather than for this blog specifically).

In the meantime, allow me to emcee this past article from G.P.: Enter The Houseshuband. which talks about how much work I do around the house for my family.

I thought it appropriate given that the last month or so I've averaged about fifty hours of work each week before I ever sat down and wrote so much as a word. It sometimes relates directly to the amount of Jazz hands we produce here.

I Am Not a Parent

Though it may be a few days before the posting here at Writing About Writing begins to reflect the fact that I'm catching up, it's definitely happening thanks to Supportive Girlfriend, a massive overhaul of the current update schedule, determined grind, and no small amount of Starbucks Energy Refreshers.

Or crank. I'm never sure which is really doing the heavy lifting.

One of the major differences between my last writing schedule and this one is that I don't really try to do more than one article in a given day. I write regularly for two other blogs (that sound you might have just heard is my editors coughing), and in the past I have come to the weekend thinking I could just write stuff for W.A.W. and the other blogs, and it totaled up to six articles in a weekend. I totally convinced myself that wouldn't be too much because biting off sane bites to chew has never exactly been my strongest suit.

That was often right before I ended up in the back yard with a lantern and a shovel hoping that the neighbors weren't too nosy about what I was burying.

Today I am working on my latest article for Grounded Parents. It won't actually show up until some time next week. (If you want to see it as soon as it comes out, follow me on one of the media where I share all my articles.) In the meantime, a great place to start if you haven't been following is the following article. For those complaining that my superhero realism doesn't tell you what's really going on in my life and insisting on a decoder ring, this article is probably the closest thing.

I Am Not a Parent

Enjoy.

Grounded Parents

[The text in brackets will disappear in a few weeks. When I'm working on a piece for Grounded Parents, it won't actually show up until later on that week, so those days I will do a little emcee job for whatever the last article was, and encourage people to watch their social media if they want to see the one I'm working on as soon as it goes up. (So watch W.A.W. on social media if you want to see the G.P. article I'm working on currently.)]

In addition to my snark writing (about writing) here at Writing About Writing I try to write with some regularity at Grounded Parents. I don't write enough to make my editor happy, but somehow not quite seldom enough for them to have puffer-fish mutant ninjas throw me to the curb and release the Titan-enhanced hell hounds on me either. (Although, honestly, I don't understand why not.)

Grounded Parents is a group of 37 incredibly talented writers (I don't know why they put up with me). They are the most educated, intelligent, empathetic, and genuinely good people I have ever had the honor of working with. We write about subjects from social justice to GMO hysteria through the lens of parents' eyes. We tackle subjects from bullying to those stupid memes about how kids had it better in the 70s and everything in between. And with the exception of the snarky creative writing major who doesn't know how to toe the skeptics' party line about midwives, we are very good at what we do.

At Grounded Parents I talk more about my home life, my family, being a "parent," and even though it's still written with pseudonyms, there are fewer superheroes and more banality. Here are the articles I have written for them:

I Am Not a Parent
Look at That Tree
Grounded Midwives
A n3wb in the Childbirth Controversy
Enter the Househusband
ZOMG Baby Smiles
To Co-Parent or Not to Co-Parent
Maybe I'll Just Shut Up
I Delight in Your Pigeonholing Failure
Be Glad Your Housespouse Isn't Union
The Ideology of Skepticism
